Students in AP® Physics expand on and deepen their understanding of material mastered in a prior high school physics course, preparing them for success in their pursuit of science, engineering or math at the college level. The College Board has formally authorized this course to carry the AP® designation and designed it to be the equivalent of a first-year college-level general physics class. The course provides the educational foundation for students to take the AP® Physics 1 Algebra-Based Exam administered by the College Board each May.

Topics include: kinematics, dynamics, circular motion, gravitation, energy, momentum, simple harmonic motion, torque and rotational motion.

Prerequisites: Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry (previously or concurrently), a solid foundation in physical sciences as indicated by completion of Physics 1 (or equivalent), and a rigorous Chemistry class.

Suggested Grade Level: 12
